It follows Anna, a woman who travels across seven American cities to earn money for her family.

Splitting into two characters—Anna I and Anna II —representing her inner conflict. In each city, she encounters one of the sins, judged by her family whenever she strays from "virtue" in pursuit of profit. The work critiques capitalist morality and the cost of self-denial in a corrupt society.
